Public Speaking
You can download this clip of my first public speaking engagement. As I look at it, I cringe with embarrassment. I make all the mistakes that you are not supposed to me. I am visibly nervous. My talk went too long, I should have been brief.
I assure you that my public speaking skills have dramatically improved since.

6:31 AMI'm impressed. I think that you did very, very well, and that you are too harsh in your own criticism. It is always more interesting and enjoyable for me to hear a prepared and measured speaker, especially one who has a presence about her, who is speaking only because she wants to communicate than one who is speaking principally because she likes to hear herself talk. I wish there was a Q & A afterwards.

You did fine. I would say that you did show your emotion in your speech, but it was shown in a reasoned and contained method. Hopefully that was your intent.
On another note, reading you has challenged many of my own views that I used to have, as I used to back Israel 100% and now it's more balanced thanks to your insight and comments.
I also was a bit surprised by your accent, as you sound more slavic than Arabic, but you were born in Bohemia. I also don't get the crcks about your appearance. I'd have to say you are actually very attractive, though I am biased as I find women from both Central/Eastern Europe and the Middle East to be very attractive in general.

within the first few minutes of hearing your propaganda speech i burst out laughing. apparently you telling the audience that you are neither palestinian or israeli is supposed to make them believe you are of independent mind and have no bias. i hope they didnt believe this garbage. i've heard this sort of hate speech a million times. "aaaah, the jews! they jews are killing everyone! the zionists are taking over the world! aaaaaah!" first, you do not understand international law. someone must have told you what to say, because you certainly didnt find your "info" in any legal book. the state of palestine does not exist. it is not recognized as an independent nation by the world body, that territory is considered part of israel...therefore israel cannot occupy its own nation. second, Article 51 of the UN charter says that nothing in the charter will stop a state from its inherent right to defend itself. this supercedes all other articles. the whole speeched smelled like horseshit. ambulance workers cant help the poor palestinians because they could be shot, jailed, and tortured for doing so. oh please. why dont you mention the fact that israel allows tons of palestinian savages to work in israel, giving them some sort of income. i think the israelis should build a giant ass wall around all of palestine and not let any of them into israel, not for work, not for school, and not for medical care. its ignorant people like yourself that spit in the face of hospitality and caring individuals.

why do you complain so much about israel/palestine when there are so many other problems in the world that are far greater, such as the arabs killing the africans in sudan. there are people dying by the millions of hunger in africa, asia, and south america, yet you constantly complain about a situation where very few people die. strange

Thomas,
The slavic accent is probably because I speak Czech. The funny thing is that when I speak Czech people say that I have a north american accent. In Cesko, people always comment "You speak Czech so well .... how did you learn?" When I tell them that I am Czech they look surprised.
Thank you for the compliment.
AngloGermanicAmerican,
Thank you for your sweet comment as well.

My PC won't play the file. It asks for Quicktime which is a Mac program only I believe. What technical tricks are there to get around this?

QuickTime download is free

Thanks, I didn't know there was a Windows version.
Feeling nervous when public speaking is understandable. Too often, when people don't like the message, they take shots at the messenger. (Unfortunately, this is particularily common on blog comment pages, as you well know.)
I respect and applaud your concerns and efforts to make a positive difference in your community and beyond.

I think you did quite well :p
but I don't know if it was the accent but I noticed some nervousness in your voice while speaking (which is quite normal imho). Perhabs you should continue to try your hand in public speaking until you get more used to it xD
anyhow you spoke better than I could have lol
