So lahme means meat. The funny thing is that my favorite foods from the Medditeraenean and Middle East is lamb and how it is prepared.

The rap would be a perfect response to PETA especially on Mar 15 which is International Eat an Animal to Annoy PETA day :)

Dear Ihath,

It was OK except for the few dirty words (very common in US media unfortunately -- monkeys see, monkeys do).

As usual I'm clueless about any artistic reason or meaning. I was very interested in the close ups of the meats, however. Due to high cholesterol and excess body fat, I've adjusted my diet considerably in recent years. Now I'm almost a vegetarian. Sometimes high calorie high fat lahme looks very tempting.

And thanks for the Arabic lesson. Lahme. I'll see how long I can remember it. Lahme.

So, what kinds of lahme are your favorites? I don't know if fish is considered lahme. My favs are: Salmon, tuna, pork, chicken. I avoid beef because of the BSE issue and it is overpriced. Salmon is worth its price, however (I guess mercury is expensive). Yum, yum! Lahme!

The Nomad,
Bira is the arabic word for beer. I do remember many years ago hearing an arabic song about bira but I don't remember the words nor the tune right now.

As an arab, i just have to say the afghan version of the video (same song, different guys/acting) takes the cake. Everyone should check it out.

If this song didnt have that many bad words i would sing it all the time i think they should make it without the bad words. I understood everything and i think that it was really funny.

The swearing didn't bother me too much. Awesome song. Go Syria(and other arabs)! And to pronounce "Day" and "Beer" its not really "bira" cuz that sounds like "byra". Its more like "Beera". And "Day" shouldn't be spelled "Yawm" cuz it looks like "yawn" its more like a "yowm" or "yome".

In the arabic culture lahme is more often used to just describe beef rather than meat itself and to reamin safe so you dont allow one to eat pork your better off using "bakarrd" for beef and "hunzierre" for pork. I found this out the hard way that its better to just differenciate the two.
