From the land of Arabian Nights, comes a story teller of a partially different kind.
Male Bellydancer
Whenever I tell people here in Vancouver that in the Middle East, men bellydance as well as women and in somecases even better, they always look at me in disblief.
Well here is a short clip that I have enjoyed watching very much and I hope you do too.
I think think guy is amazing.
There is a way between voice and presence where information flows.
In disciplined silence it opens.
With wandering talk it closes. .... Rumi
Hello hello ! I'm a fan of your blog and I enjoy belly dancing a lot !! (Thank you for the video!) I agree! usually and even in the middle east the crowd are surprised that men belly dance!! I do it and I don't care as I enjoy it a lot !! greetings from Seattle !
Greetings from Arizona! I love to read your blog even though we sometimes disagree. I LOVE the Middle Eastern Cultures and enjoyed seeing this! Thanks and keep writing!
This is probably one of the best belly dance I ever seen. I would have looked at you with amazment and laughter if you said to me there are men do belly dance as well as woman, but it is my ignorance before seeing this one.
Normally, when I see a belly dance, I am biased that is a woman's dance, but I have seen the men's belly dance now in thid video. It is very novel and wonderful dance performance of this dancer.
I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and was at the Loring Bar one evening (a local Bohemian gathering place)when a Middle Eastern group played music for a female belly dancer. Imagine my astonishment when some male Egyptian students attending the U. of M. hopped onto the tables, wrapped scarves around their hips, and began to dance! Then, a grandmother in the family began also . . . I live in a mostly German/Scandinavian culture and this was the most wonderful thing to behold! Thanks for posting your blog and your dancer.
